This book analyses the transformations caused by the introduction of energy in the daily life of the largest urban centres in Brazil between late 19th Century and the 1930s. It described the changes in recreational habits and standards, and goods and services consumption brought by electricity, in both the domestic space and the urban public space, highlighting its importance in the country’s modernization process.
